Reading the fine print
Seriously, what’s with the rights grab for some of the alt. magazines out there? It almost sounds like some publications are trying to grab everything they possibly can without any remuneration or even promise of publication. This may be why I never submit things for publication.
So yeah — I upgraded to a @500px paid account (discounted for Valentine’s day…) Hopefully, some of my series will start making more sense now. Or not.

500px update
As you might have noticed, a few of my photos are showing up on 500px now. I’m slowly constructing it as my portfolio site so you’ll likely see a few repeats although chances are that I’ll have reprocessed them. I’m not abandoning here though after all; it’s been freeing to not just have my photos predominantly on here so I might reblog things a bit more.

Closing shop?
I’m contemplating making a switch to 500px from Tumblr. If I did this, I’d close this Tumblr down as it’s only worth switching to 500px if you pay for an account. I’m finding I have less and less to comment on my photographs and 500px does a much better job of presenting things as a portfolio. I’ll leave this here for awhile though — I’m open to changing...

I’m in Calgary. Now that I know though, I might make a point of getting out to Canmore.
2012 Exposure Photography Festival
Just as a public service announcement, I thought I’d point out that the Exposure festival is running the month of February covering Calgary, Canmore and Banff. The fact that a photography festival runs for an entire month in this area is reason enough to support it.
Of especial note, Francis Wiley has a show at the Kawa expresso bar that features Sara, who often shows up in my work.

In praise of simplicity
I’ve spent most of my life in admiration of profundity. But more and more I see through the airs of the profound for what they really are. It’s made me appreciate simplicity much more.
It’s odd. On various online venues, I’m connected to hundreds of people. But if truth be known, the number of people (on and offline) I regularly interact with can be measured by a single hand.
